Garrett Spitz - Lead PastorGarrett came to know the Lord as a teenager through the youth ministry of a local church and Young Life. After high school Garrett moved from Long Island, New York to Virginia to study at the College of William & Mary where he earned a BA in History & Religious Studies. There, he was blessed through his involvement with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. He went on to get his MA in Secondary Education so that he could sharpen his gifts for ministry through teaching. After four years as a high school social studies teacher and as a lay leader in the church, he left the classroom to serve as PCC’s Associate Pastor in 2011. He completed his MDiv with Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2017. He enjoys reading, over-analyzing movies, running when he gets the chance and having impromptu dance parties with his wife and best friend, Kristen, and their children, Natalie and Graham. - EMAIL

Chris Chappell - Associate Pastor - Student MinistryChris was born and raised in Virginia Beach by believing parents and met the Lord at a young age. After high school he graduated from Christopher Newport with a history degree and a Masters in teaching. In college he was involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. He taught high school history for 13 years and served as an elder at By Grace Community Church before joining PCC. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Biblical Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Becky, were married in 2005 and have three children Noelle, Ezekiel and Ezra. - EMAIL

Mark Shaw - Via Institute DirectorMark has been a global worker in Kenya for 30 years and part of PCC since 2000. He is a graduate of Gordon College, Westminster Seminary and Edinburgh University. He has been married to Lois since 1970. They have two married children and four grandsons. Among his favorite things are university students, art, Dylan and the Boston Red Sox. - EMAIL

Tom Kenney - Global Ministry PastorTom graduated from Virginia Tech in 1975 with a BA in Business Administration. While at Tech he was nurtured by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and joined their staff upon graduation, serving the Vanderbilt campus in Nashville from 1975-1978. Having benefited from the works of men like J.I. Packer and John Stott, Tom earned a Masters of Divinity at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia from 1978-1982. Part-time work in small group ministry at Chelten (Conservative) Baptist Church convinced him that the church was his calling. In 1982 the Tabernacle Church of Norfolk (where Tom grew up) began work on the Peninsula and called him to pastor the church planting effort. Tom and his wife Mabel have been with the Chapel since it started in 1983. Tom stepped down as Lead Pastor in May 2020 after 38 years in that position and now serves at the Global Ministry Pastor & Director of Fellows. Tom enjoys Fridays off with Mabel, reading the Economist and historical fiction, visiting the Chapel's global partners around the world and working out at the YMCA. Chris Hamilton - Counseling & Mercy Ministry CoordinatorChris graduated from Gettysburg College in 1985, but it wasn’t until 1996 that the Lord called her to Himself in a display of His Grace. As the Women’s Ministry Director from 2011 to 2022, Chris has been active in Bible study and discipleship, fueled by a passion to know the living Lord more and to help other women experience that same life-changing grace, forgiveness and hope. Starting with some courses in 2020 through the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF) and now working toward her Master of Arts in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary, Chris now serves as a counselor at PCC, while also leading the Mercy Ministry and the Advisory Council of Women. In her free time Chris loves to spend time puttering in her garden or walking her two dogs. She and her husband, Phil, have been married since 1990 and have two adult sons. - EMAIL

Amanda Smith - Director of Children's Ministry (KidzMin)Amanda and her family (husband Josh and children Payton, Jude, Lenora and Samantha), have been a part of the PCC family since 2005. A native of Virginia, Amanda grew up in a military family where the need for a personal relationship with Jesus was encouraged. While attending Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA (where she graduated with a BA in Political Science and Minor in Leadership), it was then that Amanda truly came to know the Lord. In 2008, she joined the children's ministry team and has been working to serve the children and families of PCC ever since. Amanda enjoys relaxing with her family, going to the beach, watching soccer and opportunities to express creativity through music and art. - EMAIL
